Benfica have agreed a €9m deal for Espanyol defender Aaron Martin, but will hold off announcing the deal.

Talks have been ongoing since January and the deal could include the option for Espanyol to take Benfica’s younger players on loan.

Marca report that a deal has been reached, but will be announced when Alex Grimaldo has completed his move to Italian side Napoli from the Portuguese outfit.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Barcelona have previously shown interest in Martin, who has now agreed terms to play in Portugal.

His exit from Espanyol could be followed by two other stars as both Gerard Moreno and David Lopez look keen to move on.

SPORT say that a deal is almost sealed for top scorer Gerard Moreno to return to former club Villarreal as the east coast club will pay 20 million euros to purchase 50% of his ownership as they already have the remaining 50% from when he last played for the club.

Espanyol will not take up the option to purchase an extra 30% of his rights which would keep him at the RCDE Stadium and a deal could be confirmed as soon as next week.
