Pablo Machin looks set to leave Girona for a two-year contract at La Liga rivals Sevilla.
Vincenzo Montella left the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan at the end of the season after failing to find consistent form for the Andalusian side.
Joaquin Caparros, who returned to the club to take over proceedings has now moved into a director of football role and that has paved the way for Machin to move from the Catalan club.
Machin’s success at Girona this season has been impressive, guiding them to a top half finish in their debut top flight season.
Negotiations which continued over the weekend have now reached the final stages – with agent Alvaro Torres representing Machin and agreeing a two-year contract.
Unlike Montella’s contract at Sevilla before his sacking – Machin’s contract proposal does not include a demand to qualify for Europe.
43-year-old Machin began his coaching career with Calasanz in 1998 after a playing career with Numancia and then he spent 13 years with the club, coaching their youth clubs and the senior side.
On 17 August 2017, after achieving promotion to La Liga, Machin extended his contract until 2019 but it now seems that deal will not be fulfilled and he will move to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
