Real Betis have made a move for Rayo Vallecano defender Alex Moreno, whose contract expires in June 2018.
The 24-year-old has starred for the league leaders in La Liga 123 this season, having played largely as a winger, instead of his accustomed left-back position.
His form has since led to a number of La Liga clubs to show interest, with Betis boss Quique Setien said to be a massive admirer, watching his performances closely.
Betis are keen to pursue a move and sign the youngster on a free transfer, adding competition to their left side, which has seen youngster Junior Firpo already impress.
Betis have already begun recruiting for next season, agreeing deals for out-of-contract Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez and Eibar midfielder Takashi Inui.
Born in Barcelona, Moreno graduated from local FC Vilafranca’s youth system, making his senior debuts in 2010–11 in Tercera División.
He signed with Barcelona in April 2011, being assigned to the youth team; but despite being a regular starter, he was released at the end of the season and forced to drop down a few leagues.
In July 2012, Moreno joined Segunda División B club UE Llagostera, before a spell with Mallorca and Elche, and then currently with Rayo Vallecano in 2014.
