Getafe have agreed a deal with Everton for keeper Joel Robles, it has been confirmed.
The 27-year-old returns to his place of birth to play for the La Liga side, signing a contract after seeing his deal at Goodison Park expire.
Having previously played for Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano, Robles embarked on stints in England with Wigan Athletic and Everton.
Mundo Deportivo report that the Spanish keeper has agreed a deal to become the new number one at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, replacing Vicente Guaita, who will move to Crystal Palace this summer.
Guaita has long been on Palace’s radar after a superb season with the Madrid based club and despite a deal almost going through in January – the English club chose to wait until his contract expired at the end of the season.
Robles was linked to La Liga in January, having seen a move to Deportivo fail at the last hurdle.
Whilst he is expected to arrive at the club, Getafe officials are concerned that Sevilla are looking into the potential signing of Djene Dakonam as a replacement for Clement Lenglet, who could leave.
Djene has been one of the club’s standout players of late and would prove hard to replace.
