Girona’s Bono yet to sign new deal; waits on more interestJune 6, 2018
Girona keeper Yassine Bounou (Bono) is waiting on interest from other European clubs before he commits to a deal with the Catalan club.
The 27-year-old Morocco international played an important part in his side’s impressive La Liga campaign, making 30 appearances.
Such has been his good form and that of the Catalan club – that a number of interested parties are looking at making a move for the keeper, more commonly known as ‘Bono’.
Bono’s current deal with Girona runs out at the end of June and is it understood that he wants his future sorted before representing his country at the World Cup in Russia.
Mundo Deportivo are amongst those reporting the interest from Sevilla, who are keen improve all areas of their defence after a poor end to the season under former boss Vincenzo Montella.
Bono, who was born in Canada, began his career with Wydad Casablanca in Morocco, before moving to Atletico Madrid, where he representing their B side.
A loan spell with Real Zaragoza then followed and it was in July 2016 that he sealed a deal with Girona, helping them to promotion last term and a top half finish in La Liga, this time round.
Girona, who are expected to see a number of their top performers linked with other clubs, will have to be strong in their resolve in keeping them at the club.
