Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Vicente Guaita from Getafe via their official website.
The former Valencia stopper has seen his time at the Madrid based club come to an end and has signed a deal with the Premier League club. where he will move to after the summer holiday.
Italian club Fiorentina had shown late interest in the stopper, but his decision to join Palace is said to have been agreed for sometime.
The 30-year-old was in good form last season, having kept an impressive seven clean sheets in his opening 18 league games.
Guaita had three seasons with Getafe, after spending five years with Valencia and a loan spell with Recreativo.
His arrival to Palace will see current number one Julien Speroni drop to reserve, whilst Wayne Hennesey would almost certainly be made available to leave.
With his signature, he comes the English club’s first signing of the summer, as they look to improve on their disappointments from last term.
At Getafe, Joel Robles has come in from Everton, whilst former Arsenal keeper Emiliano Martinez, who joined last summer – could be in line for a starting place at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, and Filip Manojlovic would also be vying for a chance.
