Atletico Madrid are no longer pursuing a move for AC Milan forward Suso after agreeing terms with Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
The 24 year-old, who arrived at the San Siro from Liverpool, was the club’s fourth top goal scorer last season, grabbing eight, as well as recording 14 assists, the most provided by a Milan player.
The Spaniard’s form for I Rossoneri hasn’t gone unnoticed in his home country, with the winger making his international debut for Spain in November’s 3-3 draw with Russia.
And reports last week claimed Atleti were ready to pay his release clause, which is set at €38 million.
However, that interest has now dropped after the Spanish club agreed a €60m deal for Thomas Lemar, who has been impressing at Monaco.
His potential arrival could see a number of players leave the club with Kevin Gameiro and Luciano Vietto both looking at their futures, whilst Antoine Griezmann’s future at the Wanda Metropolitano is not yet confirmed.
Another player linked with a move to the Europa League champions is Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint Germain.
The Uruguayan striker has been in superb form of recent seasons but it is understood that he is keen to look for a new start and his desire to play in La Liga is said to be enticing Atleti officials into a potentially lucrative transfer offer.
