French side Nantes are looking to sign full-back Douglas from Barcelona on loan this summer.
Ouest France are among those reporting the news in French media, claiming that the Ligue 1 club have offered Douglas a one-year loan deal which does not include the option for the move to be made permanent in January, as first reported.
The 27-year-old Brazilian defender is seen as a potential replacement for Leo Dubois, who has agreed terms to leave for Lyon later this month.
Les Canaris’ new boss Miguel Cardoso wants to bring in Douglas sooner rather than later and build his squad ready for next season.
The right-back, loaned to Benfica last season, has a contract with Barca until June 2019 but has been told by boss Ernesto Valverde that he will not be included in his plans next season.
A move to Benfica had been expected, however, a failure to impress club officials saw them allow him to return to Barca last month.
Douglas’ chances of getting into Barca’s starting eleven have been unlikely for some-time, given Sergi Roberto’s incredible rise at the club and Nelson Semedo, who largely played as a back-up for the young Spaniard.
Another right back at the Camp Nou – Aleix Vidal, is also searching for a new club this summer and has been linked with Inter Milan, Roma and Sevilla.
