Premier League side Arsenal are set to hold talks with Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega, according to various reports in English press.
Unai Emery’s install as Gunners boss has already seen a number of changes be made at the Emirates stadium, having brought in German keeper Bernd Leno from Leverkusen and allowed Jack Wilshere to leave the club on a free transfer.
With Wilshere leaving at the end of this month, Emery is keen to raid former club Sevilla and make a move for Argentine playmaker Banega, who is said to be interested in a move to North London.
Banega is currently on international duty with the Argentina national side in Russia at the World Cup.
As well as a potential deal for Banega, Emery has also signed former Juventus defender Stephan Lichsteiner and is expected to sign Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria in the coming days.
29-year-old Banega has a wealth of experience in Europe, having played for Sevilla on two occasions, Valencia once and Italian side Inter Milan.
His biggest success came in the 2015 and 2016 seasons, winning the UEFA Cup with the Andalusian side under Emery, meaning Arsenal fans should optimistic about the potential re-partnership of the player and coach.
