Alaves meet up with Valencia to discuss Maksimovic proposal

Alaves and Valencia have held a meeting to discuss a potential deal that would see Nemanja Maksimovic join the former.

Spanish daily Marca report that Sergio Fernandez of Alaves and Mateu Alemany of Valencia were present in a meeting to discuss a transfer fee for the attacking midfielder.

Abelardo’s side are looking to bolster their options this summer and have been in discussion about the signing of young defender Toni Lato, however, a deal has not yet been completed.

Negotiations will continue for Lato between the clubs, but for now – attention is on Serbian, Maksimovic.

Whilst Los Che are determined to sell a number of players to recoup funds this summer, it is understood that Marcelino is keen to allow Maksimovic to leave on a one-year loan deal.

Malaga, Getafe and Leganes have all shown interested in recent weeks, but Alaves’ interest has taken a step further with talks being held at the Mestalla.

Maksimovic joined Valencia last summer but failed to hold down a regular starting place last season, featuring 17 times for the La Liga outfit.

Whilst he has represented Serbia on four occasions, his lack of regular playing time saw him miss out on a World Cup place with his country.
