Real Betis left back Riza Durmisi has completed his medical with Lazio, ahead of his €7 million move to the Italian club. Images have emerged of the Denmark international undertaking his medical in Rome under Lazio’s official twitter page.
The 24 year old started last season with Real Betis very bright, playing a key role in the team at the start of the season. Due to injuries initially suffering a hamstring injury in October, Durmisi was dropped from the team. In his place, Junior Firpo stood in and performed above expectations.
Due to the emergence of the Dominican left back, Durmisi was seen as surplus to requirements. With a number of teams interested in Durmisi, Real Betis saw this as an opportunity to make money ahead of a busy summer. Back in January, Liverpool were touted with interest in the Dane, but Lazio have now clenched a deal for Durmisi.
After moving to Real Betis from his hometown club Brondby in Denmark in 2016, Durmisi had solidified his place on the team. The left back will also make the Andalucian club a €5 million profit as he was bought for around €2 million at the time. After 54 games for the club, Real Betis will be glad to have made some money as they look to invest in squad depth ahead of Europa League football next season.
Betis will also feel comfortable letting Riza Durmisi go due to the performances of Junior Firpo. After coming thorough the ranks at the club Firpo, along with Fabian Ruiz and Loren Moron came into the first team last season and exceeded expectations. After 14 solid appearances, scoring against Real Madrid and a memorable match-winning goal against Las Palmas, Betis should be in safe hands in the left back position for the upcoming season.
