Barcelona may already have sealed a deal with Gremio to bring Arthur to Catalonia, but SPORT now say that the Camp Nou club are close to securing an agreement to ensure that he arrives in the summer, rather than the winter.
The Brazilian outfit had wanted to retain their star man until the end of their campaign in the winter, meaning he would miss half a season of La Liga action, but a deal is close.
Both parties are expected to sign an agreement to allow Arthur to join the club on 1st July after the player made his feelings clear on any potential move taking place this summer.
The deal cost Barcelona 30 million euros plus a further nine million euros in variables depending on how much of a success he is in Spain.
Having missed out on inclusion in Brazil’s World Cup squad, he has contributed one goal and two assists in 10 appearances in the 2018 campaign for Gremio.
The creative midfielder is expected to be somewhat of a replacement for Andres Iniesta, sharing that tag with compatriot Philippe Coutinho as the pair look to add creativity in the middle of the park.
It is not yet clear what squad number Arthur will take up upon his arrival at the club which could now be imminent with both clubs expected to make an announcement to clarify the situations.
