Deportivo are looking into the possibility of signing Diego Alves from Valencia, according to reports.
The Brazilian stopper has been linked with a summer exit from Mestalla since the season ended last month and links to a number of European sides has gathered pace, including Italian side Napoli – who had reportedly discussed contract terms.
Alves has spent six seasons with Valencia and largely impressed last season – but the arrival of Neto from Juventus has seen his future at the club push towards a departure.
Whilst a number of European sides have shown interest – the nature of Deportivo’s interest has gathered pace with club president Tino Fernandez confirming a potential move.
“It is true we are talking to agents and with Valencia but nothing more at the moment,” Fernandez is quoted as saying by Plaza Deportiva.
“Nothing is done as we speak and I do not particularly like discussing players who are at other clubs because that will not help.
“Just as with other players, when it is announced it will be announced but right now there is nothing.”
