N’Golo Kante could make a surprise move from London to Spain this summer, if French newspaper Le Parisien are correct in their reports that La Liga duo Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in the Chelsea midfielder.
The dynamic French international was one of few men to come out of Chelsea’s 2017/18 campaign with any praise but failure to qualify for the Champions League may mean that the former Leicester man could consider his future.
It is hard to see where he would fit in at either club, with Casemiro and Sergio Busquets having monopolised the roles of holding midfielder at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and the Camp Nou, but sources from France continue to suggest that Kante could be on the move.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is a hard negotiator and would not want to lose one of his key men, who Antonio Conte’s replacement may look to build a team around in the future.
Kante’s quality has been clear ever since he moved to the Premier League and his all round play in the middle of the park would be an attractive option for any club, including Real Madrid and Barcelona, but we will have to wait and see if either believes that such a deal is even vaguely possible to the extent that they make a bid for him.
