Getafe have completed the loan signing of Sergi Guardiola, which includes the option to purchase next summer.
The 27-year-old recently extended his contract with second division side Cordoba, but his 22 goals last season which helped them avoid relegation – saw him gain interest from the Coliseum Alfonso Perez and a deal has now been struck.
The deal which will see Guardiola arrive for 12 months, will also see Alvaro Jimenez and Dani Pacheco, both Cordoba natives – move in the opposite direction on loan deals.
Mundo Deportivo cite Cordoba president Jesus Leon, who claimed that numerous bids had been rejected leading up to the loan deal.
Guardiola is famed for once signing a one-and-a-half year deal with Barcelona’s B side and being released just hours later after a number of offensive tweets towards the Catalan club were found on social media.
His career has seen him play for a number of lower league clubs, including a loan spell in Australia with Adelaide United, where he scored three goals in 16 games.
Having been very much a journeyman, Guardiola’s best season came last term, where he scored 22 goals in 38 games in LaLiga 123.
