Eduardo Berizzo is awaiting two phone calls prior to his first training session with Athletic Bilbao next week.
The Argentine coach is currently enjoying his last week of vacation before preparations for the new La Liga campaign get underway next Monday in Lezama.
The first team at the Basque club will officially be in training for the first time on the 9th July, when Berizzo hopes to have two new players at his disposal.
Berizzo who has been quick to look at several options to bolster his side ahead of the new season, is currently waiting on the confirmation that Yuri Berchiche has been signed from Paris Saint Germain.
The former Sevilla boss is believed to want to add depth to his new team that finished well outside the European places last season – finishing in 16th place, a full 15 points behind Sevilla and believes €20 million for Berchiche is the right option.
Another player in the plans of Berizzo is Mikel Merino of Newcastle United, however, he has been linked with Real Sociedad, who are closer to agreeing a deal.
Berizzo is now awaiting two calls on those deals and whilst Berchiche is expected to arrive at the New San Mames – a deal for Merino is further away.
