Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet is a matter of days away from signing for Barcelona, reports claim.
It has been one of the most talked about potential transfers in Spain since the season finished in May, but after weeks of negotiations – Lenglet’s proposed move to the Camp Nou looks set to be finalised.
Barca boss Ernesto Valverde has been keen on the French defender since the turn of the year, having watched him perform for the Andalusian club to a high standard and after making Thomas Vermaelen and Marlon aware of their futures in the Catalan capital.
Vermaelen, who may yet stay at the club – has been told he can make a move elsewhere, whilst Marlon is subject to interest from Southampton and West Ham United in England.
Lenglet, who will link up with fellow Frenchman Samuel Umtiti, is expected to provide adequate back-up to the centre-back and Gerard Pique.
The 22-year-old central defender has impressed for Los Rojiblancos and was one of the few highlights of their season last term.
He is expected to sign a five-year deal with Barca and the move is now close to completion, with some media outlets claiming he could be announced in the coming days.
