Steven N’Zonzi is said to be desperate to leave Sevilla this summer, but has seen reported interest from Arsenal waiver in the last few weeks.
The Frenchman was odds on to leave the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan under coach Eduardo Berizzo in the first half of last season after failing to gain playing time and citing a desire to move back to the Premier League.
Problems have since been solved however, with N’Zonzi being re-installed by Berizzo’s replacement – Vincenzo Montella, who despite bringing the best out of the former Stoke City midfielder – was sacked towards the end of the season.
Having sprung back into life; N’Zonzi played an important part in Sevilla’s impressive European run, which saw them eliminate Manchester United to reach the quarter-final stage but he was also involved in their poor end to the campaign.
The Frenchman is now said to have told his representatives and the club that he wants to leave this summer.
Interest from a number of clubs has been high since the turn of the year, in particular – Arsenal, who are now coached by Unai Emery.
Reports had surfaced that Emery has set a side a figure of €40m, which would trigger his minimum fee release clause for N’Zonzi.
However, that interest has now wavered in the last few weeks – prompting N’Zonzi to publicly pursue an exit once more.
