Barcelona discuss potential Antonio Adan move

Barcelona are considering a move for Real Betis’ keeper Antonio Adan, according to reports in Spain.

Adan’s future with the Andalusian side has come under question this summer after Betis boss Quique Setien secured a move for Pau Lopez of Espanyol and that has led to reports that the 31-year-old will now leave the Benito Villamarin.

The former Real Madrid man is out of contract next summer and was close to signing for Sporting Lisbon in a €3m deal, however, the move broke down.

Getafe have also been interested, but it is now being reported by Diario AS that Barca are keen to bring him into the Camp Nou to replace Jasper Cillessen, who is actively searching for a new club.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen is the current number one at Barca and it is expected that Adan would largely play in the Copa del Rey and La Liga on occasion.

Aside from Barca’s interest – it was also reported last week that Atletico Madrid were keen on bringing the experienced shot stopper into the club to provide competition to Jan Oblak.

Betis have been largely busy so far in the transfer market as they prepare for the new La Liga campaign, which will also include a Europa League experience, having qualified after a good season.
