Mangala not returning to Valencia

Eliaquim Mangala is set to agree a move to Paris Saint Germain, according to reports.

France Football have reported on Wednesday morning that the former Porto defender will arrive in Paris for an agreed fee of £20m.

Having spent time on loan with La Liga side Valencia last season, the French defender was subject to interest from officials at the Mestalla but a failed loan bid has now seen him move to Ligue 1.

Los Che’s option to buy was also not taking up as the asking price set by English club Man City was more than they could afford at present.

Unai Emery’s side had made genuine play for former Real Madrid defender Pepe, but he opted to join Turkish champions Besiktas instead.

Valencia are yet to bolster their defensive options this summer and are expected Joao Cancelo to leave the club for Juventus, leaving them with just Ruben Vezo, Jose Luis Gaya, Aymen Abdennour and Ezequiel Garay.

Young 19-year-old Toni Lato has been promoted to the first team this summer, but his in-experience is likely to see manager Marcelino push for defenders this summer.
