Manchester City are set to sign Brazilian Douglas and will then send him out on loan to Girona, according to reports.
Speculation linking the 19-year-old with a move to European football has surfaced since the end of the domestic season and a number of interested clubs like Borussia Dortmund and Monaco have been courting the youngster.
However, despite their advances – it is understood that the Brazilian will now join English club Manchester City in a £12.5m deal.
Diario Sport report that Douglas will arrive from Brazil but be sent straight out on loan to Spanish side Girona, with whom City agreed a club partnership with earlier this summer.
The newly promoted La Liga side join City’s growing list of satellite clubs which include MLS side New York City and A-League side Melbourne City.
His move to Girona will see him join new signings Bernardo Espinosa, Jose Aurelio Suarez and former Athletic Bilbao keeper Gorka Iraizoz.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Douglas began his football with Vasco and has featured 39 times, scoring five times and seeing himself named in the Campeonato Carioca Team of the Year for 2017.
The midfielder has also been capped at international level, representing his country at U20 level on five occasions.
