Atletico Madrid have signed goalkeeper Antonio Adan from Real Betis on a two year deal after the two clubs reached an agreement for his transfer to the capital.
The 31-year old ‘keeper has undergone a successful medical and will join the squad for pre season training on Wednesday before the team head off to Singapore for two friendlies at the end of the month.
Adan joined Los Verdiblancos from Italian side Cagliari in 2014 and soon became one of the first names on the teamsheets, taking the captaincy towards the end of his time in Seville as well.
He made 165 appearances for the Benito Villamarin side over the last four years.
Jan Oblak is still likely to be the number one at the Wanda Metropolitano with Adan as back up. Atleti had struggled with goalkeeper numbers towards the end of last season after Miguel Angel Moya’s move to Real Sociedad.
Adan actually began his career at Atleti’s city rivals Real Madrid, spending nine years at the club working his way up through their B and C teams before progressing up to the first team where he made seven appearances before moving to Cagliari. He only spent one year in Serie A however before moving back to Spain.
The keeper also managed to pick up 39 caps at youth level from Spain between their under-16 and under-21 age groups.
