English side Everton have stepped up their efforts to register the signings of Barcelona defensive duo Lucas Digne and Yerry Mina, as per Sky sources based in Spain.
Everton has recently signed Watford forward Richarlison in a £50m deal with newly appointed manager Marco Silva indicating a strong desire to add some much-needed quality to the squad this summer.
The Toffees are currently scouting the market in search of top-class additions to the left-back and centre-back roles following dismal performances in the league last season.
The two Barcelona players will also be eager to prove a point after being handed close to no game-time by the LaLiga giants last season. Mina enjoyed a fantastic campaign for Colombia in the recently concluded world cup with his effectiveness off set-pieces drawing praise from experts and fans alike. Digne was himself an effective performer for Barcelona whenever handed an opportunity last season which sadly failed to convert into regular first-team opportunities.
The Colombian defender is currently enjoying a much-needed break after World Cup duties, while the French fullback has accompanied the club squad to the USA with an eye on impressing Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde through quality pre-season performances.
Everton faces a tough battle in their pursuit of Mina with English giants Manchester United linked with a move for his services recently. French side Lyon has also indicated a strong desire to swoop him up, with Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas enjoying a smug smile when quizzed about the transfer during a recent press conference. Digne, on the other hand, promises to be a much-easier acquisition.
