Barcelona midfielder Rafinha has advised his club to sign Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich this summer.
The gossip season is well underway and in large parts of Catalonia, calls have been made for the Spanish international to return to the club after citing a desire to move back and prove himself.
Having begun his career in La Masia, much like his brother, Thiago was sold in 2013 against many fans’ wishes to the Bundesliga side, where he has won five consecutive league titles.
His success and consistent performances saw him play an important part in Spain’s World Cup campaign in Russia, despite their early exit.
Now, Rafinha, who has returned to Barca following a year long loan spell with Italian side Inter Milan – has called for officials to make a move for his brother this summer.
“I want to see Thiago play for Barcelona again,” Rafinha told reporters on Tuesday.
“He would fit into the style of play with this team perfectly and he is familiar with many (from the national team and former Barca days).”
Speaking on his future, Rafinha, who is expected to be given a second chance at the club this season – told reporters that he remains unsure where he will be past the summer.
“My own future? I honestly do not know, there is a lot of talk but I am not thinking about it, that is for other people to focus on.
“I want to play football, whether that is here or somewhere else.”
Rafinha is currently enjoying Barca’s pre-season tour of the United States, where he proved instrumental in their penalty shoot-out win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday morning in the International Champions Cup.
