Eibar have loaned centre back Jose Antonio Martinez to Granada, less than a month after signing him from Barcelona B on a three year deal.

Martinez has featured in some of Eibar’s pre season games so far, including on their trip to Austria, but with the arrival of Pedro Bigas, his game time would be limited so he will spend the season in LaLiga 123 with the Nuevo Los Carmenes side.

The 25-year old is a left footed central defender with a strong physical presence at the back but he is known for his threat at set pieces.

He began his career with third tier Alcala but has spent most of his time with the B teams of Sevilla and Barcelona since leaving Alcala in 2014, making 99 appearances at those two teams.

Last season saw him play 22 times in the Segunda for Barca B, including against new club Granada. He will hope to use that move as a springboard into Eibar’s first team for the following season.

Granada see Martinez as a player who can strengthen an already strong defence who have conceded no goals so far in pre season against Marbella, Real Jaen and Extremadura. He becomes their fifth summer signing following the arrivals of Fede Vico, Alvaro Vadillo, Nicolas Aguirre and Rodri.
