Cristiano Ronaldo will arrive back in Madrid to start pre-season training ‘under a cloud’, according to a Real Madrid source.
The Portuguese forward has been involved in frequent media reports this summer, claiming that he had issued the club with an ultimatum and wanted to move back to Manchester United.
Claims in Spanish media said that the club’s all-time leading scorer had felt let down by the club, following news that he was due to appear in court over unpaid taxes.
Whilst a move was heavily reported, it is understood that he will remain at Santiago Bernabeu – at least for next season.
Due to arrive back in Madrid for pre-season training in the coming days, it is understood, however, that Ronaldo has very few admirers or friends left in the Spanish capital.
Following the departures of compatriots Fabio Coentrao and Pepe, Ronaldo is said to have one ally in Brazilian defender Marcelo – but his relationship with the likes of Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and even, Sergio Ramos, is said to have diminished.
A source close to club told La Liga News UK that he would be arriving back for pre-season training ‘under a cloud’ and that many players and coaching staff were tired of ‘the boy who cried wolf’.
