Villarreal defender Pau Torres join Malaga on loan and Alfred N’Diaye could follow suitAugust 5, 2018
Villarreal have loaned young defender Pau Torres to Malaga for the season.
But the deal does not include a permanent option with Javier Calleja keen to ensure he becomes a regular starter for the Yellow Submarine in the future, as reported by Marca.
Pau for the future
The 21-year-old predominantly plays for Villarreal B, but featured twice from the bench in LaLiga last term.
Yet, opportunities are still limited and a season in the Segunda Division with newly-relegated Malaga would give Torres more chance to earn minutes.
And the defender has already been set the target of helping the Andalusians return to the Spanish top-flight at the first time of asking.
Reports suggest that should Torres impress for Boquerones, a regular place in Villarreal’s backline will be on offer, such is the potential that Calleja sees in him.
And Torres may not be only Yellow Submarine player to move to Malaga, with the Estadio La Roseleda outfit also targeting Alfred N’Diaye.
The Senegal defensive midfielder is among those that are thought to be allowed to leave, along with Russia’s World Cup star Denis Cheryshev.
Yet, Malaga will face competition for 28-year-old, with Premier League outfit Cardiff City and English Championship side Middlesbrough among the interested parties.
But, N’Diaye has rejected a move to Turkey, despite Kayserispor making an offer.
