Thiago Alcantara set for Real Madrid, not BarcelonaAugust 10, 2018
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have agreed terms over a deal for midfielder Thiago Alcantara, reports claim.
The gossip season is well underway and in large parts of Catalonia, calls have been made for the Spanish international to return to the club after citing a desire to move back and prove himself.
Having begun his career in La Masia, much like his brother, Thiago was sold in 2013 against many fans’ wishes to the Bundesliga side, where he has won five consecutive league titles.
His success and consistent performances saw him play an important part in Spain’s World Cup campaign in Russia, despite their early exit.
However, despite Barca’s wishes – it now seems that he could be off to their bitter rivals Madrid instead.
Onda Cero claim that a deal is in place for the midfielder to replace Mateo Kovacic and move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
With Thiago’s brother, Rafinha, plying his trade at Barca and his time spent with the Catalan club – a move to Los Blancos could cause quite a stir amongst fans of either club.
Kovacic left the club earlier this week for Chelsea as part of a deal for keeper Thibaut Courtois, who was presented as a Madrid player on Thursday.
