Barcelona are ready to offer Ivan Rakitic a new deal in a bid to stop him being tempted by Paris Saint Germain.
The Croatian midfielder followed up last season’s performances on the pitch for Barca with a superb World Cup campaign with his country, helping them reach the final – where they eventually lost to France.
Ligue 1 champions PSG have since been linked with interest as they seek to build a Champions League winning side, but they have now been told that Rakitic will not be leaving the Camp Nou.
Rakitic has a current deal with Barca until 2021, but that is now said to have been looked at by club officials and will be extended with an improvement on wages.
The former Sevilla man is said to have told the Catalan club that he does not want to leave and instructed his agent that he would not listen to offers from the Parisian club.
Rakitic played the full game for Barca as they opened up their La Liga account with a win over Alaves at the weekend.
Lionel Messi scored an impressive brace, whilst Philippe Coutinho also opened up his account for the new season with a sublime individual goal in the 3-0 win.
