After a devastating start to the season with a 4-1 home defeat to Sevilla, Rayo Vallecano have bounced back with a big money signing as they have confirmed a deal, believed to be worth 5 million euros, with Cadiz for attacking winger Alvaro Garcia.
The 25-year-old scored ten goals and produced three assists in his most prolific campaign to date in La Liga 1 2 3 last season and has put pen to paper on a five year deal.
Garcia will now look to add to his four top flight appearances after he broke through into the first team with Granada in 2013/14 before he dropped down to Segunda with Leganes and then Racing Santander before moving back south to Cadiz to establish himself.
He could soon be joined by Raul de Tomas, the Real Madrid striker who spent last season on loan at the club. Union Rayo say that a deal to bring the youngster back on loan is close.
Julen Lopetegui is believed to have given his approval for De Tomas to return to Vallecas as he would have very limited game time at the Santiago Bernabeu, and a deal may even be completed in time for him to join before the team face Atletico Madrid on Saturday evening, with Oscar Trejo likely to fill in as a makeshift centre-forward alongside Gael Kakuta and Adri Embarba in a front three.
