Athletic Club vs Huesca – San Mames – Monday 27th August – 21:00 GMT
Two clubs of contrasting statures will meet for the first time in competitive action at San Mames on Monday evening as Huesca travel to San Mames to face Athletic Club.
Both teams got their campaigns off to winning starts last weekend, with Huesca securing a historic 2-0 win over Eibar thanks to Alex Gallar.
Elsewhere in the Basque Country, Athletic secured a last gasp win over Leganes, with Iker Muniain’s injury time strike proving to be the difference.
Now, the pair will come face to face as they look to maintain their impressive starts and the two Argentinians in the dug-out will be looking for three points as both new managers look to take steps towards their end of season goals right from the off.
Eduardo Berrizo is already facing something of an injury crisis, particularly in goal with Iago Herrerrin out with an elbow injury. Alex Remiro’s reluctance to sign a new deal means he will be left out, whilst Inigo Martinez is yet to recover from a calf problem. Aritz Aduriz has joined the injury list after a hamstring strain against Leganes and Inigo Lekue broke his ankle in training on Thursday.
Huesca’s slim squad will fortunately have every option available to Leo Franco, with injuries or suspensions yet to rob him of any of his team.
Athletic Club (4-3-3): Simon; De Marcos, Yeray, Nolaskoain, Yuri; Lopez, D. Garcia, Muniain; Susaeta, R. Garcia, Williams.
Huesca (4-4-2): Werner; Miramon, Pulido, Etxeita, Luisinho; Gallar, Melero, Musto, Moi; Cucho, Longo.
Athletic Club 1-0 Huesca
