Valencia will not give up on Goncalo Guedes

Valencia are actively attempting to sign Goncalo Guedes on a permanent deal this summer, according to reports.

The Portuguese international was excluded from the French side’s pre-season tour of Singapore last month and is now training on his own in Paris.

Having spent last season on loan with Los Che, Guedes was consistently good, impressing enough to warrant a place for his country at the World Cup in Russia this summer.

Despite his form, PSG have remained intent on selling him to recoup some funds to meet Financial Fair Play demands, which they are reportedly short of £30-£40m.

Multiple reports in Spain now confirm that Valencia are still interested, despite claims they would struggle fund a move.

That being said, it is understood that they are actively trying to negotiate a deal where they pay for Guedes in installments, thus being able to balance the books.

Valencia boss Marcelino was delighted with his side’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on Monday evening at the Mestalla, but would ideally love to have the winger back involved in his plans.

“The deal for Guedes is not going to be easy, but he’s excited to come in,” Marcelino told Cadena Cope on Monday night.

Further to talk of Guedes’ potential arrival, Marcelino was also quizzed on Rodrigo and his future.

“Rodrigo? No, I don’t think we are going to sell him. This is the best and the most complete team I’ve ever had.”
