Spain U-20 vs Japan U-20 – Stade de la Rabine, Vannes – Friday 24th August – Kick off 6:30pm GMT
The Spanish national women’s under 20s take on Japan on Friday night as they aim to win the Fifa Women’s U-20 World Cup in Brittany, France.
La Rojita have impressed throughout the tournament, going unbeaten with the only draw coming against USA in the group stages.
Wins against Paraguay (4-1) and fellow finalists Japan (1-0) coupled with that draw saw them progress as group winners with knockout stage wins over Nigeria and hosts France sending them to the final.
Barcelona’s Patri Guijarro has been the undoubted star of the tournament with her six goals making her the competition’s top scorer with her overall play not going unnoticed.
Ten of this young Spanish side have been together through the under-17 and under-19 age groups together, winning the European Championships at both levels so they certainly know how to win when it comes down to the wire. This coupled with the fact they beat Japan earlier in the competition, could give them a mental edge.
Levante defender Ona Batlle will miss the final through injury while the Spanish will also be without Aitana Bonmati following her red card in the semi-final against France.
