Angel Rodriguez has followed up his strike against Eibar at the weekend with a clear indication that he will remain a Getafe player for some-time.
Jose Luis Mendilibar’s side approached the game having lost on the opening day of the season and in need of a win, but they could do little about Getafe’s excellent counter attacking play, which in the end – proved decisive for the three points.
Rodriguez played a somewhat quiet but starring role for the home side last season and he got his goal-scoring off to the perfect start after 18 minutes, beating Marko Dmitrović.
Linked with a number of clubs in La Liga, Rodriguez gave comments on his future following the win.
“At the moment I am very happy here,” he told reporters. “I am happy in Getafe, in Madrid, I only have words of thanks to Getafe, offers have arrived and I have decided to continue here.”
The game then reverted back to it’s normal style of play as Eibar continued to control the ball and it was Sergi Enrich and Kike who both were guilty of missing clear chances.
In total, the visitors had nine shots on Getafe’s goal but they failed to hit the target on any of them – and as the game filtered out – the home side made them pay once more.
Amath produced some fine wing play and found veteran striker Jorge Molina, who tapped home in the 90th minute to seal all three points for Jose Bordalas’ side.
Finally, on the win, Rodriguez added: “It was going to be very hard, very hard and we had to get the three points, it was not showy, we have to be honest, there will not be easy matches in Primera this season.”
The result sees Getafe gain their win of the season, whilst Mendilibar’s Eibar have nothing to show in terms of points.
