Real Madrid v Leganes: Hosts look to continue winning start to the seasonAugust 31, 2018
Real Madrid vs Leganes – Santiago Bernabeu – Saturday 1st September – Kick off 7:45pm GMT
Saturday’s fixtures conclude at the Bernabeu with current leaders Real Madrid taking on 12th placed Leganes.
Julen Lopetegui’s side currently hold a 100% win record in their first two games of the season, defeating Getafe 2-0 at home and Girona 4-1 away last Sunday.
Leganes have collected only one point so far this season, drawing 2-2 at home to Real Sociedad last weekend after losing 2-1 away to Athletic Bilbao at the start of the campaign.
Los Blancos collected six from six points when the two sides met last season. Leganes picked up an early opener in the rescheduled first match between the two sides; however goals from Lucas Vazquez, Casemiro and a Sergio Ramos penalty made it 3-1 to Real. In the second encounter, goals from Gareth Bale and Borja Mayoral secured a 2-1 win for the capital side.
The match may be too soon for Real’s new signing Mariano Diaz, meaning that Karim Benzema, who grabbed a brace in last week’s victory, should keep his place as Real’s main striker for the third week running. Jesus Vallejo will be the only Real player unavailable for the clash, with the defender out with a quadriceps injury.
Mauricio Pellegrino could have up to three players unavailable for the match. New signing Jose Arnaiz and Alexander Szymanowski will definitely be out with groin and muscle injuries respectively. Raul Garcia was an unused substitute in last week’s draw and is a doubt with an undisclosed injury.
Real Madrid (4-3-3): Navas; Carvajal, Nacho, Ramos, Marcelo; Isco, Casemiro, Kroos; Bale, Benzema, Asensio
Leganes (4-2-3-1): Cuellar; Juanfran, Munoz, Siovas, Silva; Gumbau, Ruben Perez; El Zhar, Eraso, Ojeda; Carrillo
Real Madrid 3-0 Leganes
