Girona are hoping to seal a late move for Middlesbrough forward Martin Braithwaite, according to reports.
The potential and increasingly likely exit of Portu to Sevilla on Friday has prompted the Catalan club to look for a new goal-scorer and their attentions have now been turned to Braithwaite, who is keen to leave Boro.
The Danish international has struggled in English football, however, he has netted an impressive three goals in five games this season in the Championship.
Having had his best years with French side Toulouse, where he scored 40 goals in 149 games – the striker has told the English club that he wants to move away from England.
Leganes have shown interest in recent weeks and it is understood that the striker has told Boro that he would like to move to Spain.
Seydou Doumbia has arrived to bolster Girona’s attack
Cameroon international Doumbia sealed a deal to Girona earlier this week after a spell in Portuguese football with Sporting CP.
His arrival could also prove vital in replacing Portu, however, the 30-year-old failed to score a single goal last season.
Girona host Villarreal at Montilivi tonight in two La Liga games to start the weekend’s action, whilst Getafe host Real Valladolid.
