Real Betis vs Sevilla – Estadio Benito Villamarin – Sunday 2nd September 2018 – Kick off 7:45pm GMT
There will be fireworks when Real Betis and Sevilla, the two bitter local rivals, take on each other at Estadio Benito Villamarin. Following a shocking 3-0 home loss to Levante, Los Beticos played out a goalless draw with Deportivo Alaves at the weekend and they are now eyeing their first win of the season.
The club chiefs did well to reinforce the squad in the summer and, no doubt, the hosts are capable of matching Sevilla at their Estadio Benito Villamarin. Los Sevillanos, on the other hand, outclassed Rayo Vallecano 4-1 in their first away game of the season, but they should be happy with one point from the Seville derby.
A man to watch in the away team will be summer signing Andre Silva, whilst Sevilla defenders should have an eye on Takashi Inui, who impressed with Eibar last season.
Last year’s two meeting produced no less than 12 goals with Los Verdiblancos having the better of their city rivals. The first clash was a crazy game with Betis running out 5-3 winners at the Sanchez Pizjuan before grabbing a 2-2 draw at home.
Quique Setien has no new injury concerns and is likely to field the same side that drew with Alaves last weekend. Riyad Boudebouz will be pushing for a start but Real Betis will likely start defensively before turning to their attacking options later in the game.
Sevilla had the second leg of their Europa League play-off against Sigma to contend with before this weekend’s fixture. Pablo Machin made a few changes to his team for the midweek fixture but will revert back to his first choice starting XI for the La Liga game.
