Getafe boss Jose Bordalas has said his side squandered too many chances against Real Valladolid on Friday evening.
Valladolid are yet to score this season, having been held to a blank draw at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez – where the home boss was in search of three points.
Sergio’ side gained promotion to La Liga last term, but they are yet to get off the mark in Spain’s top division.
In what was an even encounter, both sides failed to break the deadlock – despite 19 shots between them.
Chances proved few and far between in the first half, although Jaime Mata was doing his best to score past his old club, being denied in the first half on two occasions by visiting keeper Jordi Masip.
Enes Unal played an important part for the visitors against Barcelona last week and his hard work almost saw him score Valladolid’s first goal of the season in the first period, but the on-loan Villarreal front-man could do little to test David Soria in the Getafe goal.
Angel Rodriguez has been linked with a move away from Getafe this summer, but the home fans were delighted when he started the game. His inclusion failed to see him score though and the point leaves both sides sitting in mid table.
Bordalas spoke about the draw to reporters following the game and said: “I must keep working with the boys. We lacked any success in the final third. We lacked quality and did not make the correct decisions to make more opportunities.
“We have been superior but not taken our chances.”
Finally, Bordalas commented on the future of Angel, who will remain at the club for the season.
“We hope he stays a Getafe player and we are confident he will continue to be with us. His intention has always been to continue.”
Valladolid will next host Alaves, whilst Getafe will travel to Sevilla on the weekend of the 16th September.
