Former Barcelona midfielder Wilfried Kaptoum has been included in Real Betis’ Europa League squad.
Following last week’s Europa draw, the Andalusian club chose to select the players who would represent them in the competition and they have included the Cameroonian.
Kaptoum is joined by Dani Rebollo, who will act as a third choice keeper and homegrown players, Robert and Ivan.
Mesa’s red card overturned by La Liga’s competition committee
The former Swansea City man was seen as the victim for Sevilla as they lost to Betis and the midfielder was sent off.
Mesa was involved in constant arguments during the derby last weekend and eventually saw red in the 65th minute after an altercation with Pau Lopez.
The midfielder was seen to obstruct Lopez from playing the ball out fast and starting a Betis counter attack. The keeper then jumped on top of Mesa and appeared to elbow him, but instead of booking the keeper – the referee chose to send of the former Las Palmas man.
The competition committee have now retracted the second yellow card which saw him dismissed.
VAR has since come up with the verdict that Mesa did not obstruct play with force and he will now be available to play against Getafe after the international break.
Sevilla were then reduced to ten men and lost the derby 1-0 thanks to a goal from veteran winger Joaquin.
