Racing Valverdeno player Jose Mari was violently assaulted by a fan at the weekend, prompting his club to contact the Civil Guard.
The third division club are currently hovering in the mid table places in Spain’s third tier setup and they have now been involved in controversy after an incident involving Jose Mari and a fan.
Sunday afternoon saw Valverdeno face CD Valdecalzada and the game did hold some tension, between fans and fans, plus fans and players.
Jose Mari, has now been discharged from the hospital, was assaulted and hit on the cheekbone, which left him unconscious and forced him to be rushed to hospital.
The incident happened at the end of the match when the game was tied at 2-2, seeing Jose Mari score both goals.
A full investigation into the incident will now take place as the Civil Guard have now been installed to take up the case.
