Eusebio delighted with Girona attitude

Eusebio has revealed his delight after seeing his players beat Celta Vigo 3-2 on Monday evening.

Celta remained one of only four unbeaten sides heading into the game at the Montilivi, but they could not follow up their impressive league start as Stuani netted twice.

The Uruguay international has been a revelation for the Catalan side since arriving last summer and he netted one in either half to help his side gain an impressive three points.

Girona took the lead against the run of play when Stuani headed in a cross from Aday Benitez in the 22nd minute, but the visitors were back level through a delightful Iago Aspas free-kick, 12 minutes later.

Celta failed to build on their comeback however and Pedro Alcala planted a superb header into the bottom corner before the break.

The second half began very much in the same vein as Girona continued to impress on the counter attack and it would soon be 3-1 when Stuani claimed his second of the night.

The home crowd were delighted with the scoreline but did suffer a nervous finish when Sofiane Boufal scored late on to make it 3-2.

Gustavo Cabral was sent off in the dying seconds for a second bookable offence to end a forgetful night for Mohamed’s side.

Following the game, Eusebio spoke to reporters and said: “We are in a good position, in terms of points, the team is feeling good and I am happy with their attitude.

“We have done well and the victory is an important one.”
