STOP FALCAO: The 1 thing Atleti must do against MonacoSeptember 18, 2018
Atletico Madrid come up against former striker Radamel Falcao in Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Monaco and we believe the Colombian will have the bit between his teeth to score.
If you watched the former Atleti striker at this summer’s World Cup in Russia, you would be excused for thinking he had ever hit the heights he did with the Spanish club, but Falcao never ceases to amaze.
Yes he scored in the 3-0 win over Poland and received a standing ovation from his national team’s fans, but his performance, mainly against England was a far shadow of his once Ballon d’Or worthy goal-scoring.
The 32-year-old joined Atleti in 2011 and scored an impressive 70 goals in 91 games, helping them to Copa del Rey title, Europe League success and the Spanish Supercopa.
Now with Monaco in Ligue 1, he has been steadily scoring goals – but his side are struggling this season, seeing him net just twice.
Heading into the game on Tuesday evening where Atleti come up against their former player – Falcao will no doubt be relishing the chance to get himself a goal.
Diego Simeone’s side have been as equally poor as Monaco this season and the defensive line will have to do all it takes to keep Falcao at bay.
