Celta Vigo vs Real Valladolid – Estadio Balaidos – Saturday 22nd September – Kick off 3:15pm UK time
Third placed Celta Vigo welcome second bottom Real Valladolid to Balaidos on Saturday hoping to keep tabs on Barcelona and Real Madrid above them in the league.
Monday’s 3-2 defeat at Girona was their first of the season but a draw with Espanyol coupled with wins over Levante and Atletico Madrid have them high up the La Liga table.
Valladolid have drawn with Girona and Getafe to earn their only points this season but their two home games have ended in tight one goal defeats to Barcelona and Alaves with those two goals the only goals scored in Valladolid games this season leaving them as the only team not to have found the net this season.
Celta will know this and be confident that they can heap further misery on Sergio Gonzalez’s men by picking up the three points in Galicia.
The Celestes won 2-1 when the sides last met, in a 2016 friendly while also winning the last competitive meeting 4-1 in La Liga in 2014. Valladolid however won the other meeting that season 3-0 against the 10-men of Celta.
Gustavo Cabral’s red card in Catalonia on Monday will see him miss out on the clash with Valladolid meaning Antonio Mohamed is likely to return to a back four. Sofiane Boufal scored in that defeat and may be rewarded with a start on Saturday.
Daniele Verde and Joaquin Fernandez are both ruled out until October for Valladolid while Luismi will also miss out on the trip North through injury.
