Barcelona must forget the VAR decision that saw Clement Lenglet sent off against Girona at the weekend.
It may be three days later and focus should be on Wednesday’s game against Leganes, but Barca seem too interested in the sending off of Lenglet, which saw them draw 2-2 with their Catalan rivals at the weekend.
The dismissal came after a VAR review which saw Gil Manzano look at the screen and send off the Frenchman.
Looking back on the incident and at closer inspection, their is no doubt that Manzano was right to send off the former Sevilla man, who was making his first La Liga start of the season.
But, Barca seem destined to push the decision all the way – with the league champions having lodged an appeal.
Countless comments have since been made by pundits, former Barca players and club officials, whilst at the end of Sunday’s game, Lionel Messi was seen not shaking hands with the official.
In truth, they have a bit of a case – after Pere Pons of Girona – did actually get up following the challenge and apologise to Lenglet, but despite his surprise when the red card was brandished, the decision stood.
Whether or not Barca will get any sort of comeback on their appeal is yet to be seen, but focus must be on getting three points against Leganes.
Focus on anything else, and Real Madrid could move in….
