Kevin Gameiro struck to hand Valencia their first win of the season against Real Sociedad on Saturday.
After their heroics last season which saw them qualify for the Champions League and cause problems for the usual top three in Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid – Los Che have struggled to find that form this time round.
But, they stuck to their guns on Saturday at the Anoeta and grabbed all three points.
The game started very even but the hosts were handed bad news in the 13th minute when former Newcastle United man Mikel Merino was forced off through injury.
Geoffrey Kondogbia almost instantly scored from that moment but the Frenchman sent his effort straight at Miguel Angel Moya.
Gameiro was then next to have a chance and whilst the French forward had the ball in the back of the net, it was ruled out.
However, the former Sevilla man would make no mistakes moments later as he gave the visitors a lead just before the break.
La Real’s best chance to level the tie came in the second half when Willian Jose had a chance from the penalty spot after Ruben Pardo had been fouled inside the box, but the forward saw his spot-kick miss.
