Eibar 1-3 Sevilla: Visitors’ impressive form continues

Sevilla produced a superb second half display to beat Eibar 3-1 on Saturday evening and continue their impressive run of form.

After their impressive thumping of Real Madrid in mid-week, Pablo Machin’s side went into the game at the Ipurua with a lot of confidence and it showed in their performance.

The home side did manage to keep the Andalusian side at bay during the opening 45 minutes, despite Andre Silva’s best efforts to break the deadlock.

However, within two minutes of the restart – Silva struck and continued his impressive form.

Before the hour mark, Ever Banega would get himself on the score-sheet, finishing off a superb penalty to double the visitors’ lead, and he added a third deep into the nine minutes of injury time.

The Basque hosts did have a little to celebrate as they scored a late consolation goal through Joan Jordan, but the game was done and dusted, seeing Sevilla move just one point off league leaders Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Elsewhere on Saturday evening, Real Madrid and Atletico played out a 0-0 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu, meaning the latter have now gone seven games without defeat at their rivals stadium.

Barcelona only just drew with Athletic Bilbao earlier in the day as Munir El Haddadi cancelled out a Oscar de Marcos goal.
