Lionel Messi produced a masterclass as he scored two to help Barcelona beat Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
Heading into the game at Wembley, Barca had suffered indifferent form in the league, but they started the game on the front foot when Philippe Coutinho gave everyone in England a reminder of his talent, netting inside the opening 120 seconds.
Barca continued to dominate and it was not long until they had their second goal of the game when Ivan Rakitic produced a moment of sheer class.
The Croatian midfielder hit a superb volley which beat Hugo Lloris and went in off the post to make it 2-0.
Harry Kane would then get the home side back in the game when he turned Nelson Semedo and hit a low drive past Marc Andre ter Stegen.
But Messi restored the Catalan side’s lead after a superb dummy from Luis Suarez.
Erik Lamela’s deflected effort off Clement Lenglet made the game interesting late on, but Messi, who was not finished – created a match winning moment, starting a Barca move and finishing it off with a one-on-one which he tricked Lloris and sent the French keeper the wrong way.
It is now two wins out of two for Barca, who return to league action against Valencia at the weekend.
