Los Blancos inform Lopetegui – Beat Barcelona or your out!

Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez has told Julen Lopetegui he has to beat Barcelona to remain in charge of the club.

The former Spain boss has not seen his side score in their last three La Liga games and suffered a 1-0 defeat in the Champions League to CSKA Moscow.

That form has led to a call for a change, despite Lopetegui only being in charge since the start of the summer when he sensationally was sacked from his international role with La Roja just moments before the World Cup in Russia.

Perez, who sold Cristiano Ronaldo this summer and failed to bring in a replacement – has now opted to look for suitable replacements.

Former player Santiago Solari has been mentioned in Spanish reports, whilst former Chelsea boss Antoino Conte, who has previously been linked with the job at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Saturday’s game against Alaves which ended 1-0 to Abelardo’s side saw Real Madrid dominate possession and chances but the likes of Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema fail to find the back of the net.

Los Blancos now take time out over the international break before hosting Levante next weekend, Viktoria Plzen the following mid-week and then – El Clasico against bitter rivals Barcelona.
