Barca duo travel to Brazil to scout youngsters

Barcelona duo Pep Segura and Ramon Planes have jetted out to Brazil to scout a number of potential young signings, according to Mundo Deportivo.

With the international break upon us, the Catalan side are taking the time out to look at a number of potential transfer options and according to a number of sources in the region, both Segura and technical secretary, Ramon Planes, have jetted out to the South American country.

Eric Abidal could also join the duo in looking at a number of young players, whom they have actively been scouting since the turn of 2018.

Barca’s interest in the Brazilian market comes after their successful signing of Arthur, who arrived from Gremio this summer in a deal which was agreed at the turn of the year.

The midfielder has been in superb form this season and has largely been compared to former duo Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta.

The 21-year-old almost surpassed Xavi’s six-year La Liga passing record against Valencia on Sunday evening.

A starter against Los Che on Sunday evening, the former Gremio man attempted 142 passes and completed 135 of them, more than any player in La Liga this season.

In doing so, Arthur almost beat Xavi, formerly of Barca, who completed 148 passes against Levante in November 2012.
