Corinthians’ young defender Leo Santos is the latest Brazilian starlet to attract the attention of La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Los Blancos first noticed the 19-year old when he stood out in a youth tournament in Spain a few years ago with Rodrygo, who will join the club in 2019, and Vinicius Junior, who also impressed at that time, having been prioritised over the signing of Santos.
Following Fabian Balbuena’s move to West Ham, Santos has featured as Corinthians’ main centre back, including in the Copa Libertadores.
His current contract runs until 2020 with Real watching his performance along with those of Rodrygo all the time. A representative of the Madrid club is currently in Brazil watching both players as well as any others that may attract his attention as possible signings for Real Madrid.
Another player that has been noticed is Flamengo’s 21-year old midfielder Lucas Paqueta. It is believed that the playmaker was a recommendation by left back Marcelo to Madrid chiefs.
He has been on top form for the club who are part of a five way fight for the title, between themselves, Palmeiras, Internacional, Sao Paulo and Gremio with just ten games left to play in the Brazilian Serie A.
